Working Research Topic – Advanced Research Seminar – Kevin Sikorski

I think the concept of what is fashion is constantly changing. More specifically I want to think about how the concept of the body and nudity/implied nudity, what this does for the fashion industry. Is being nude or slightly nude fashion? And what does that create in the modeling industry? How does this make people in the industry look at women, men, people of color, or individuals with “curve”? And what problems has this lead to? There have been sexual harassment cases about models or individuals in the industry. How can this problem be solved? Is there a solution?

Why do we still work with people and give them a second chance?

Why does hierarchy and name and talent overpower wrongful mistakes made by these predators?

The industry is constantly changing but can we really change this?

How can we monitor this/set rules/limits?

Do we think that fashion will ever go in the direction of more revealing or will the sexualization of the body prevent this?
