- In these final Bridges focusing on body covering as identity, how did your studio work and seminar work influence each other?
- What was the most influential thing you learned about your topic through research?
- What are you most proud of?
- Do you think of the subject fashion differently after this semester?
- What topics, themes, and styles of making did you explore that you might want to keep working with in the future?
In my final bride projects between studio and seminar, I was pushed to think critically between creativity and research. My studio work pushed me to come up with creative ideas I was motivated to really run with, which aided in my curiosity toward research. The research side brought an element of understanding for context and history of whatever it was I was looking into.
I am most proud of my concept for the final bridge project. I decided to look at the opportunity designers and artists have to be storytellers. I looked into what it really means to be a storyteller and what stories can do for both the individual and the collective.
Fashion as an art and a part of history has absolutely changed over the period of time spent in fashion studio and seminar. I have a much wider scope of the thought and impact that has gone into the fashion industry. I see there is so much to learn here.
I will keep exploring storytelling through fashion. This is something I’m looking for more and more. This idea really trickles into the shapes, concepts, fabrics and context of every clothing piece.
I love how deeply interested you became in storytelling this semester. It was always so enjoyable and thought provoking to read your writing and talk with you. I hope you are really proud of all the work you did in this intensive seminar!
