BRIDGE1: 3 diptychs

I created this photo-based image using Photoshop and a picture I took at Gunkanjima, Japan. It was named “Warship Island” after the fact that it is an artificial island that looks similar to warship. This place held higher population density than Tokyo at that time in early 1930s, but is completely an inhabited island now. I wanted to give feelings of depth and enhanced atmosphere by adding figures and background.

I again made a digital illustration being inspired by GUCCI commercial ‘Floral’ directed by Chris Cunningham in 2009. In contrast to the commercial video where movement of invisible force is expressed by the movement of flowers, I tried to express a similar idea using shift of color and saturation.

The left drawing is from “Parzival”, known to be one of the oldest German romance by Wolfram von Eschenbach. I drew this straight forward revision of the scene where Anfortas, the king of holy grail suffers from venom of a heathen’s spear.
