Response: The Uncertainty Machine

I was extremely fascinated with the author’s acceptance of what the I Ching has influenced throughout history rather than the deeper meaning behind it. I think within society in general, there is this yearning to understand the deeper meaning to things without focusing on the way they’ve been beneficial in the overall scheme of things. I think that can directly be applied to the way in which technologies are digested – everyone, being the general public, fears the deeper meaning and/or implications of advancements in technology. This is somewhat reasonable, but they forget to appreciate the level of advancement the technology represents in its entirety.
