Outfit Exercise

After returning from FIT Museum we did an outfit exercise in class. All of us had to stand in front of the class individually, tell what we were wearing and where we got them from.

I was anxious and didn’t want to participate but as soon as Juanli asked who wanted to go next, I took this opportunity to face it.

My sweater was from Ralph Lauren Polo, jeans from Mango, blazer from Mango, belt from Zara and boots from Charles and Keith. There were some interesting revelations. The list of descriptive adjectives for my outfit included coordinated, calm, edgy, business woman, crisp and fall. Words describing me were driven, confident, intelligent, architectural, modern and hardworking.

Some of these were astonishing for me as I didn’t think of myself that way. I agree that my outfit was coordinated as pointed out by Stephanie, the black boots and black belt. However, I wouldn’t call myself a calm person. I get very hyper sometimes (in a positive way). The outfit did give edgy, fall and businesswoman vibes. I was also told that i have nice eyebrows or they like how I’ve done them.  I was never the hardworking type. I’ve always gotten everything served to me in a plate without doing much. Coming from a British private school where there were exams at the end of each year, I wasn’t used to working every day. Ever since I’ve come to Parsons for college, life has been different with assignments due every other day. I work hard every day constantly battling with my slothful habits. I like how its finally paying off and people are actually acknowledging it just by looking at me or my style. It was interesting to know how outfits and style sense can have such an impact on how we are perceived as individuals.
