Memoir Bridge #1

  • The first step I did in my project was pick 3 different songs that are significant to me and my memories. In my journal, I brainstormed and jotted down feelings, thoughts, memories, and ideas that came up while listening to these songs. I read different articles on how music affects our mood and incorporated that into my drawings.

My map serves as a guide for myself and the organizations of my thoughts. The map includes smells, colors, feelings, touch, textures, scenes, and also memories that stem from my thoughts as I listen to each song. The sound map may not be as easily read by a stranger as it would be read by me, but If the individual were to listen to the songs displayed and then were to look at the map, they may have a better understand and can use the images to interpret their own meaning.

The sound map pushed me to explore photoshop in ways I had never done prior to starting. To begin, I did line drawings by hand, then proceeded to upload them to photoshop. The tools and techniques were intimidating at first but I picked up on them fairly quick. I hope to incorporate photoshop with my art in the future as I found the results of it very rewarding!

The first critique of my rough draft/idea for the sound map was not very helpful in my final project due to the fact that none of my peers participated in giving me feedback or ideas.

Here are links to the songs that I used.
