Integrative Studio 2: Bridge 1 Project- Evolution Timeline

For my Bridge 1 project I wanted to do the evolution of food and eating in America but in 2050, all animals replace humans and begin eating people the same way that we eat animals. At first it was difficult to find visual representations of single meals, which I was playing to illustrate but then I found a website that had thorough details on the history surrounding the time period in which the food was relevant. I began researching at the early 1900’s which was a time of rationing food as this was a time of war and there were not much supplies to feed families. Dishes were simple and revolved around meat and vegetables, but there was an apparent increase in processed foods as new technology was also coming about. In the mid 1900’s there was a plethora of processed foods and people were getting creative with their meals, and this was when Julia Child became popular which introduced the idea of cookbooks and delicate recipes. As the war ended, alcohol was on the menu and there were also vegetarians now who were conscious of nutrition and came about things like granola. Towards the end of the 1900’s processed food was at an all time high and this carried on throughout the early 2000’s, and declined around 2010-2012. There was now an awareness of genetically modified foods and the demand for organic and natural foods grew. Technology now being in the midst of our society has contributed to the insane amount of diversity and amount of food that we can experience. I believe that supplements and our daily amount of food will be  fulfilled by a single pill in the near future and I think that it will only get more technological after that. If in 2050 animals took over I believe that they would follow our consumer-producer lifestyle and begin selling human fingers as snacks, and serving burgers with human meat, etc…
