I am trying to learn about the history / status of plus sized clothing in relation to high fashion because I want to find out if there is more of a history than i am aware of in order to design plus sized clothing that incorporates high fashion silhouettes and tailoring. I have always been unable to find plus sized clothing that are marketed as a part of high fashion, with few exceptions in the past few years, but how has the history of shape and ideals of the body affected people’s access to luxurious or highly considered design? Exploring this topic would be extremely useful to develop a line of clothing that is informed by this gap in the fashion market and fills it.
