Constructed Environments Studio #6: My Neighborhood Visit – Crown Heights

I began my visit to Crown Heights on the Union Square 4 Train that took me 30 minutes to Eastern Parkway.  After asking directions to a main strip I walked with a blue collared Dominican man who was heading to the street, and quickly became friendly, opening up about his day.  He finished by going on a long rant of his prediction of World War III, that “-will be the blacks, whites, Spanish, and Chinese, against the Jewish people”, and continued to talk about how “gentrification” run by the same Jewish companies are pushing people farther and farther away as they build an empire.  Throughout my walk I noticed the classic old town houses and tiny shops, as well as massive structures and looming construction sights.  My pictures show the scale of the neighborhood and its character with small scale architecture.  I also show the destruction of buildings as well as building sights, and new towering structures over old townhouses.
