Week 3 – Subject Position Map

The following subject positions, and many more of course, make up the person I am today. The tricky part about subject positions, is the fact that it is hard to be actively aware of them. They become so imbedded in a person, to a point where it is difficult to identify the reasoning behind even the simplest of actions or choices taken on a daily basis. They simply become a part of the being. For me, family is really important. When I think of family, I think of my culture. When I think of culture, I associate it with a certain place. When I think of a certain place, I relate it to an emotion, feeling or an experience. And all this has an impact on the way I choose to dress. Gender and age seem to be the neutral agent in this mix. They’re inevitable. As I age and go through different stages in life, my mind ages with me. It grows and develop as I do. Because of this, there becomes more reasoning behind my thoughts, the way I act and interact, the relationships I foster, ultimately and involuntarily impacting the way I dress.
