The trip to the Boathouse compost yards was an insight into the level of dedication that goes into supporting the environment on as big a scale as we are able to in our communities. I was most surprised to learn about the exothermic composting reaction and how hot it is able to become no its own. Peaking at temperatures up to 120 F, I had never seen or heard of such a process and it was interesting to see how effective and safe such a process was. It was very educational
