In this project I wanted to focus on my friends nicotine addiction. As an actress her voice has to be clear which is why she always gets yelled at. I confront her about this in the window scene. She also has to do voice exercises to keep her vocals sharp. She does these in the bathroom with the cork. These colder lit shots create a juxtaposition and tension to the warm window scenes. I wanted to open and close with her sleeping to demonstrate the weight of the issue. I also wanted to use the repetition of her lips to show the smoke and beauty. The scene of her smoking alone in the park is slightly surreal. I wanted the far away shot to show the daze that she is in.
