For this project, I wanted to make an unconventional hanbok (more specifically the jeogori) using plastic bags and wire rings. I did not sew the parts together. Instead, I used the hot clothing iron to paste the plastic bags together. I used wire rings as decoration. I thought that this project was challenging and interesting because I have never made clothing patterns or traditional South Korean garments. Initially I was going to make a long flowing coat hanbok but after I ironed the plastics together to make a sturdier fabric, it reminded me of the fabric used in actual hanboks. Therefore I kept ironing plastic to make it sturdy and cut patterns on top of the plastic. Then melted the sides together and the sleeves together. I thought that the rings on each arms create more movement and color. The red handles on the plastic bags also created a nice design to the hanbok.
