Reflection on Travelling by Grace Paley

My thoughts were drawn to the concept of trauma engrained within someone and whether or not we can truly finish processing something. Paley reflects on her past decades later, presumably using this piece as a way to both share these experiences with others to bring attention to the lived reality of segregation, the fact that people who are alive today were present at the time of segregation to make us question if we can call segregation ‘history,’ and to also help herself to process these events. Is there a point in processing in which we ‘overcome’ events such as these? Is it even sensible to ask that?
