Mask Project Final

  • How did your idea change through each iteration from sketches to final mask.

The critique helped to push me from my initial idea and find new ways to express the ideas in my sketches in new ways that helped the ideas take shape. I started focussing on weather and the contrast between Seattle’s weather and London’s. Through the critiques I was able to take the criticism and push my idea to develop the structure to further push my concepts surrounding weather.

  • What problems did you encounter or have to solve? What did you learn

from these problems?

I was unable to soak the Bristol board with water to let the ink from either side seep through. Be open to change, your project might change drastically from the initial concept or sketches and that is simply progress.

  • Do you think you mask successfully embodied an important aspect

or concept about your written memory? If not, what would you do next time?

I think that my mask did successfully embody the concept of duality and how location can influence mental state. Next time I would work to further increase the contrast between the victorian architecture for London and the umbrellas for Seattle with the use of different sharpies instead of using the same sharpie width for both. Stark contrasts would help to show a larger difference between depression and happiness.
