Bridge 2

First iterations.
Second Iteration (image)
Describe why you chose to do the portrait in the style
or medium you did.
Through our conversations and interviews I found that we are very different people and work with very different mediums. I wanted to show my love of simplicity through using portraits made using sharpie and Daisy’s love of color through using blue ink for her portraits. The black and white vs. color worked to show the high contrast between our personalities.
What did you learn
from this
project?
This project taught me how to translate a conversation into a physical representation that encapsulated the nuances of language and two different people. I learned to represent simultaneous contrast and connection, albeit forced connection, however
What problems did you have to overcome?
I struggled with my ability to draw portraits as I have had very little instruction with this but I worked through the initial difficulty.
Are you happy
with the project?
I am not satisfied with my drawing of Daisy but apart from that I am pleased with the overall execution of my concept. The alternating colors of string linking the two faces turned out successfully and represented how a conversation can link two people despite differences in personality. I was able to combine my love of simplicity with sculpture, something I find that is typically thought of as complex in form and materials.
