Bridge 5 – LER IS1

Bridge Reflection:

1. For my Bridge Two project, I brainstormed for a while until I came up with Jim Frog. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to work with a frog but I wasn’t quite sure what his personality should be yet. So I took a little inspiration from my grandfather who has quite a quaint personality and used that to fuel my character Jim, a humble/eccentric inventor. I enjoy a lot of animated movies and shows which is the main reason I went with a cartoony frog character for my project. I worked in my sketchbook and didn’t put as much time as I should have into the drawing for studio, so I did not get the best score which was fair. For seminar, I got a fairly good grade because I put a considerable amount of effort into that project. Ultimately I’m glad I did the character the way I did and took away from it that I cannot and will not in the future leave things to the last minute and pay more attention to the directions before complaining about my grade.

2A. What learning/ learning topic or learning process did you find yourself using throughout the semester from Seminar?

  • I found myself using Points of View quite often over the period of this semester, not necessarily in class but mostly in life.
  • I have always been an empath, fairly adept at reading peoples emotions and connecting with others relatively quickly. So I have always felt this need to understand other peoples POV, but I never tried to see from it. So I’ve practiced doing that more often now that everywhere I go there are tons of people that I can test it on.
  • It was useful all the time when I needed it to be. It is the sort of thing that you can exercise whenever you choose, but that doesn’t mean you always should. I mainly find it useful when consoling someone over an issue they are having to better understand how I myself should appropriately be there for emotional support. To not overstep.
  • It will be useful in family, romantic, business and social relationships. To strengthen my bonds or know better when I need to sever one.

2B. What learning/ learning topic or learning process did you find yourself using throughout the semester from Studio?

  • I used the concept of creative/collaborative thinking quite often in seminar, and sometimes out of class.
  • I applied it through group work and executing team projects.
  • When my group was strapped for ideas in Bridge 3, we would all band together and make something up together.
  • In professional and freelance situations within the art world, to better help finish something for a deadline or build stronger relationships with fellow workers in the industry.
    3. I have learned I cannot always expect everything to go my way, and when it doesn’t to not be a crybaby and just make the best of the situation.
    4. One aha moment I had was working on my final Bridge project, that not everything always needs to fit my original vision. That what I may already have could be perfect.Note to the future
    5. Don’t slack off, don’t think that just because you aren’t enjoying doesn’t make it not worth learning. Just put your head down and work.
