Plastic

Not sure what pollutant this is but I’m assuming it’s oil generated by the boat.

Martina Kohler.  Speaker 1.  What she said was meaningful to me because it really made me realize that there is ultimately no easy solution to the problems that we have.  For every solution she mentioned, there was always another problem that was presented.  For example, the combined system that treats both toilet & surface water, while this did seem efficient, she immediately produced a counterargument that it was getting overwhelmed and as a result, while I was listening to her, I kept thinking about how difficult of a problem this was for everyone.

Michele Laporte.  Speaker 2.  What she said was particularly meaningful to me because it actually piqued my interest quite a bit.  She basically talked about pH levels in water and how to test for it and this made me realize how unclean our water really can be, in addition, I found the process for testing the water to be interesting, especially how testing for different things requires different kinds of tests, for example, testing bacteria is different from testing for pollution & nitrate and nitrites.  Not only that, but the fact that there had to be tests done in different parts of the river really made me wonder how the pollution had gotten to the point that it’s so spread out and each part had unique pollutants.
