City Dreams/Photoshop

My first implementation of the Building Block/City Dream Structure was with a theme of outer space.  This design was meant to be an abstract work.  I originally wanted to do an ice based work, which is why I used the texture I did for the base, but I decided that it’d look better in either the night sky or outer space, and I chose to overlay various patterns of stars and galaxies to make this.  In addition, I also added a filter called “accented edges” to get the dark black edges in the details.

My second piece was actually a quick one, and one that I honestly made simply because I had to fulfill a requirement of four designs, I chose to go with one that finally tackled the “immersion” style, where I chose to make the building blocks seem like part of one piece instead of being something separate.

The third piece was actually the first one I made while I was in class.  This one was probably the most “city like”, and a lot of my inspirations were from things I’d seen around New York, as well as incorporating various textures and colors.  This piece was intended as an experimental one just so I could figure out what needed to be done for the project.  I also added in a road as a floor to keep up with the city impression.

My final piece was honestly something I wish I could’ve made better, but unfortunately, I didn’t get to.  It was intended to be an underwater and oceanic theme.  One side being layered with cracks, the other being layered with algae, and the middle structure being layered with cracks and colored in a turquoise hue.  According to my classmates, I needed a focal point, and when I tried to implement that into my design, this was the result, but I guess I didn’t implement it properly.  Regardless, I think that the textures would be interesting, all I need to do is implement a focal point correctly.
