Edward Hopper-New York

I saw a painting by Edward Hopper in Met last weekend about Manhattan. It depicted a view of three buildings in sunshine from Williamsburg Bridge. This painting is very touching because it displays the area that I live in. I did the research and found that Edward Hopper is a local artist who born in NY. I looked up him on Google and found his connection with this city.

Edward Hopper is widely acknoledged as the most important realist painter of twentieth-century America. But his vision of reality was a selective one, reflecting his own temperament in the empty cityscapes, landscapes, and isolated figures he chose to paint. His work demonstrates that realism is not merely a literal or photographic copying of what we see, but an interpretive rendering.
