Studio Final Critique

This post is about the process of my Final Project in Integrative Studio 2. There are four final components:

       1.) Meditative Geodesic Dome

       2.) MOMA PS1 Dome

       3.) Video Trial

4.) Meditative Art Viewing Instruction Manual

1.) Geodesic Dome Construction Process-

Brief Reflection:

I knew this dome was going to be an arduous task because of the careful measurements needed to get a sound structure but I didn’t account for how many breaks I would have to take when bending the cardboard with the ruler setting back my time schedule dramatically. This repetitive motion hurt both my wrists and fingers after a while but initially, the action of continuously working the cardboard allowed myself to drift into a meditative state. All in all, I really enjoyed this because after that was all over the pieces practically fell together.

Finished Meditation Dome-

2.) Model of Structure at MOMA PS1-.

The following picture is what the MOMA PS1 Dome looks like:

The circles are representative of the ten constructed meditation domes (the silver structure above) that are situated around the circumference of the dome. The center is the gathering area where individuals silently meet to re-assemble their meditative art. The rectangular shapes are the door entrances to the room.

There are domes within a single dome to give the feeling of several connected cells coming together to be one cell, as that is what the communion of shared meditation can bring. The slogan for the time is “take some time to be your cellf(self)”.
