Site: Jackson Square Park

Date and Duration of Performance: May 14, 2017 – 10 minutes

I performed by object by putting my mask against my face to show an example to my audience how to interact with the object. I asked people who were sitting and enjoying the park to be apart of my audience and to interact with the mask. I figured since they were enjoying the perfect and warm weather in the park, they would be more willing and intrigued by the object that would enhance the park experience.

This video shows the documentation of Project 3. It shows me interacting with my audience and asking them to participate in my performance by holding the mask up their face an looking out of the lens.

Reflection: Performing my object in public was a lot different than what I expected. I didn’t think anyone would want to interact when I asked them, however, I experience the complete opposite. everyone was so nice and interested in the piece. Once they got the mask on, some even asked for a picture of it while it was on their face. I enjoyed this experience because I am usually very shy and being able to interact with people was nice. Making this object was a little difficult for me because I did not know how to even begin to make an interactive object but can also stand as a sculpture on its own. I am very happy with the outcome.
