Artists Statement:

In my art, I tend to use watercolor to make the object appear very soft and smooth whether it be a flower or a statue. This piece is representative of gender and how it has been portrayed in art. This watercolor piece is to make a heavy topic soft and airy. This piece was inspired by marble statues and gender studies. A specific piece that inspired my art is called All That I Can Be – Triple Self by Ashley Bickerton.

This process is a four week process that consisted of several sketches before drawing the idea out on watercolor paper. I also did some drafts with watercolor just to see how the full piece would look. This piece encompasses ideas of gender and incorporates the idea of greek art in the form of sculptures.
