3asal Magazine Manifesto

3asal was created because it was necessary. This is the platform I craved my whole life as an Arab girl, opening magazines and seeing women doing crazy beautiful things I so desperately wanted to be a part of, but believed was worlds away. I can now reflect on that and understand just how much representation matters, especially in communities where we are conditioned into silence and invisibility. I am striving for a time in fashion where we no longer have to look to huge publications to cast women that look like us, or come from our collective struggles. 3asal is a space for us, by us. And as the new generation of MENA women grow more and more reluctant to conform, spaces that can embrace us once we break out of outdated molds are more crucial than ever.

3asal is for female expression in MENA communities. 3asal is for a cultural renewal; one that understands female duality, breaks down and disposes of honor codes, and respects the independence and autonomy of the MENA woman. 3asal is for collective healing; through unity, through expression, through ownership of our bodies. 3asal is an unapologetic celebration of MENA women, from diaspora to the motherland, and all the beautiful complexities our identities encapsulate. 3asal is for you.
