That Kid who Didn’t Know the Pledge of Allegiance (Core Studio 4D 2nd project)

For my 2nd major project for my Core Studio 4D class, I was tasked with creating an animation based on a voice recording or recording of a story told to me by someone else. Prior to spring break and during spring break I managed to record a story my younger brother told me about a student from his middle school class who didn’t know the Pledge of Allegiance when reciting it. After editing down and shortening the recording, I drew the frames for the animation to match the events of the story as told by my younger brother. I drew all of my frames on notebook paper to match the theme of school and childish banter in the story, including morphs, stills, and especially loops in my first draft of the animation. After being given advice as to how the animation could be improved (by adding text and animated forms superimposed on top of the original narrative), I came up with, over the week, my second and final draft for this project. I did my final animation on Photoshop by adding layers on top of the pictures I drew for the animation initially, although the first draft was done mostly on After Effects. Below is the final version of my younger brother’s story:
