The idea behind my montages is based on concept of being able to identify yourself in the midst of the world, which relates to the theme of “Being Lost in Self-Realization”. The black and white photos mainly represent the crowd, which symbolize the majority and the unknown. I, as an individual, sometimes may be incapable of being able to differentiate myself from the crowd. Therefore I may also merge in, and become a part of the crowd.

As the series of my photomontages continue, the colorful photos of myself get bigger whilst the crowd get smaller. Some of the individuals in the crowd which stood out in the beginning get less powerful and dominating as the self-realization takes over. This process showcases the progression of self-realization through being finally able to recognize one’s self, and no longer being lost.
