To me, this aphorism conveys that fashion is created from the incorporation of both the arts and the sciences, in which I strongly agree with. Fashion is not simply just a painting on a canvas, not only does it stand its base on the human body, it also essentially revolves around each human being and the interconnections we have between each other. Besides from just having the creativity and the ideas to create designs, fashion designers also have to consider the physics and mathematics within their piece so that it can be functional and be worn by their clients. A successful piece of design should be able to not only fit the human body, but also excel in terms of its form.

This aphorism by Christopher Breward implicates that like poetry, fashion is exclusive to every individual, and through fashion people may have the opportunity to express their past experiences, or idealizations of the future. I also agree with this aphorism, in which I believe that fashion is personal in terms of each person’s unique perspectives and understandings of fashion. One may choose to wear a dress in which her grandmother had worn when she got married; one may choose to wear a jacket that he made himself for his 21st birthday; or one may choose to wear undersized clothing instead of oversized clothing because it isn’t trendy at the moment. Fashion is made up of different interpretations, with each personal, distinctive interpretation altogether merges the diversity of the fashion world.
