Reflection

This is my personal prescribed glasses, but I usually do not wear it. Both of my parents wear glasses, so they have a high expectation of my eyesight. They only see glasses as an obstacle, an inconvenience, but not a tool or a new perspective to view the world. When I was little, I was afraid of checking my eyesight because my parents will blame me if I do not have a perfect eyesight. In the end, I kind of succeed by sacrificing one of my eye’s sight. As I grow up, I start to accept my imperfection, my eyesight, which I believe is a psychological and spiritual shift. Glasses are not a burden that I need to carry around, but a brand-new perspective. By accepting that I am not perfect, I shift as a person. I believe this item is relevant to our studio theme. Through the exercise of taking 12 pictures of my glasses, I realized that lens can be the gates to a different or distorted world and it can be a useful photography tool. The exercise helps me to think more logically and to be open-minded for my Bridge 1 project.
