Quick Sketch from Photos with Cecily

These are the two tracing collage that we both did.

In class, I took 12 pictures of my partner from different perspectives and she also took 12 pictures of me. Then she traced my image on one page, and I traced her image on my paper. Then we traded our paper and did the tracing again, trying to achieve a collage image of our faces.

My thoughts behind the scene

The first thing that went through my mind was awkwardness. Taking photos of a classmate that I did not really know was just like taking photos of a stranger. However, when I took her photos, it was really hilarious. I captured a lot of funny moments of my partner. This exercise let me know more about Cecily. I let my partner do poses that she likes and I took a lot of profile picture because I thought my partner has a beautiful profile feature. I also took pictures from a different perspective. It is definitely easier than just drawing her face from scratch. By tracing her image, I get familiar with her facial feature. The outcome of the combination of our drawing was really different than I thought it would be. She added a lot of details that I would not notice myself. She definitely focuses on details better than me. Also, she is not a serious person that I thought she was before. I think we make a better connection through this exercise.
