Climate change and cities: first assessment report of the Urban Climate Change Research Network.Preview the document

The second part of the reading is mainly about the major problems that cause the climate change challenge, and cities are one of the most important factors due to this circumstance. During the reading, I think that climate change has become more and more serious in our daily life because it might overwhelmingly shape our future and next generation. Climate change also deeply influenced the socio-economic factors including people’s daily uses, such as food, water, energy supply, and public health. I think everyone should take the responsibility to start to protect the environment and take this global problem very seriously. Most of the time, climate change also bonded with existing disasters but I’m glad that some governments already took the action of reducing the rate of disaster. Although it’s not an easy process to handle, there are some positive reflections and actions such as, risk assessment and preparedness planning that would help to save the circumstances. The reading also mentioned at the end about New York City’s environment that leads to climate change, with a high volume of population and all kinds of transportation, it’s hard to imagine how temperature is rising each year.
