Natural water system in NYC

For our group project, we focused on the natural water system in New York City. We found out that there are three main sites of Natural water in New York City: Hudson River, the East River, and the Central Park Lake. The two main rivers that we researched were the East River and the Hudson River. We found out that New York City is surrounded by these two major rivers. Quinn and Sam did research about the system of the Hudson River; Teresa and Kexin mainly focused on the East River’s system. For our poster, we separated it into two sections for layouts which would show the information of East River and Hudson river directly. We also illustrate a map of both rivers for the background. Basically we created our poster based on the timeline and important events that happened from the past, it included how the river was polluted in the past and how it caused nowadays situation. We focused on the quality and pollution of the water system, such as industrial chemicals and PCBs in water. Throughout history, rivers were polluted badly, we found some interesting data to state that water pollution has a strong impact on our lives, for example there was data about the level of dissolved oxygen in the water from the year 1909 to 1926, the percentage of the level dropped down to 13% from 65%, and the amount of  fish and the number of species begins to be affected if the level of dissolved oxygen is under 55%. Last but not least, we also set wicked problem part at the bottom of the poster.
