1. What do you think of the ten Long Life design criteria ? Which criteria in particular might assist in skillfully meeting the challenges created by climate change and how? What criteria would you add or how would you update the current list to account for specific design challenges presented by the Anthropocene?
Among the ten Long Life design criteria, there are multiple criteria that can assist in skillfully meeting the challenges created by climate change. For instance, the criterion of “environment” can help designers to attach more importance to environmental implication and avoid contributing to climate change. At the current stage, I think the long life design criteria are sufficient for designers to skillfully meet the challenges presented by Anthropocene and thus needs no update.

The process of repairing revolved around the writing paper include: (1) tearing the used paper into small pieces; (2) soaking the small pieces into clean water over night; (3) pulling the redundant water and then adding some more water; (4) using the stick to stir the water and the small pieces together; (5) adding some flour into the water and the small pieces of paper and then mixing them together by continuous stirring; (6) placing a flat layer of the mixture onto the rag and then squeezing out the water; (7) waiting for approximately five minutes, separating the paper and the rag, and waiting for the flat layer to get dry; and (8) cutting the edges of the layer.
The abovementioned process is expected to take around two days. and the repair can last for a long time upon users write on it.
The first way to use the object of recycled writing paper is to soak the paper, let it dry up and make it into other things. Another way is to make recycled writing paper into other things. In other to do the repair in the first way, I may need to collect the writing paper, flour, stick for stirring, rag and also container. Therefore, I have already got all the materials and accumulated skills necessary for the repair.
The object that I wish to repair is to recycle writing paper, so as to reduce the waste of resource via recreation.

Yes, I would like to visit a repair cafe. The reason why people are interest in repair is that the whole process to repair or recreate things can be interesting to individuals as they can do whatever they can and create something new. What is more, working in the repair cafe can be beneficial to environmental protection.
Would you like to see this kind of tax be possible in your home country? Do you think it is possible there or the United States? Why or why not?
I think it is environmental for the Swedish government to introduce tax breaks on repairs to everything from bicycles to washing machines so it will no longer make sense to throw out old or broken items and buy new ones. However, it remains uncertain whether such tax can be feasible because many people can still afford such tax and prefer buying new items.

Yes, it is so surprising that the rich were so rich because they managed to spend less money. To be more specific, being able to buy higher-quality product can help to save more money. However, I don’t think that an object has to be expensive to be well made. The reason why people want to take care of objects even if they aren’t expensive is that those objects have special meanings for them.

The design is so creative and practical. The most innovative point about it is that it can expand while the kids grow up, so as to avoid wasting resources and money as well. I think it’s possible for adults to enjoy long life design clothing or objects that transform/change in other ways, particularly for those who are not so rich or are environmentalists. Possible designs include products that can be expanding or recycled.

What is a perspective on nature, the environment, or a healthy and sustainable community that generations before you have held important (around 100 years)? What makes this wisdom still relevant today? Do both older and younger people respect it? Is it something that you feel other cultures can benefit from knowing about? How do you practice this wisdom in your own life in New York?
5) Research and read an introduction to the Sixth Extinction then visit artist Maya Lin’s project: What’s Missing
– How would you describe the Sixth Extinction to a friend who is unfamiliar with it?
The Sixth Extinction refers to the most shocking extinction event during which a wide range of living creatures, such as animals, plants and highly bio-diverse habitats have been endangered. What is worse, a vast majority of the extinctions have not even been recognized or recorded even after their disappearance on the Earth.
– After reviewing the “About page” on the what’s missing site, what is one species that you learned about on this site that has gone extinct?
After reviewing the “About page” on the what’s missing site, I realized that there are so many creatures that have gone extinct. For example, Sabre-toothed cat, which is often called Sabre-toothed Tigers or Sabre-toothed Lions, have alreadt existed 55 million to 11,700 years ago.
– What do you think of this site as an artist’s project?
I think this website is quite informative and enlightening. What is more, as an artist’s project, it is very innovative and meet the standard of long life design. To be more specific, it meet the criteria of environment, security, beauty, etc.
– What did you learn on the “what you can do” page? Are you willing to do this? Why or why not?
On the “what you can do” page, there are multiple suggestions, including supporting sustainable agriculture, eating less meat, supporting sustainable fisheries, buying environmentally friendly products, etc. Personally, I am willing and able to take some advices, such as buying environmentally friendly products, eating less meat, and avoid buying species at risk. The reason is that I wish to protect the Earth and leave a livable space for the younger generations.
