Personal Photo Essay: “$OCIETY”
“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping.” ― Bo Derek
Through this photo essay, I wanted to convey the impact that the phenomenons of materialism and consumerism have on the 21st century upper class. The concepts that inspired the following photos address the heavy emphasis that we place on flaunting wealth, brand names, and material goods, and our obsession with placing a value on everything in life. I hoped to depict the superficiality and shallowness that captivates a society addicted to surface level worthiness.
