The decisions made from Part 1 of Dérive to Part 2 were quite difficult. I wasn’t sure of how my project would turn out and so I chose to change the form of media and to make it more realistic for the audience and in my case it’s my classmates. I managed to change its form, functionality but not its concept. I chose to work on a flip book rather than a video for Part 2 was purely because I wanted my classmates and my teacher to experience my Dérive through my eyes using a physical object. If I were to do this project again with unlimited supplies, I would choose to enhance the flip book and add some additional images to make it seem complete.
UPDATE:
After receiving an evaluation on my project, I noticed that this flip book can be refined with a title as well as a change in it’s appearance, so, I chose to reprint it on a harder paper with white backgrounds around it. I added a cover to it to add the title in the front. The title is “2007 or 2017?”. The purpose of having this as a title was because I wanted to show that despite of which year it is, I will still sit in the carousel and enjoy, relive those fairytales and feel special. The reason why I chose 2007 is because that was the first year I sat in the carousel and never thought I will be able to sit again after 10 years which is the reason why I added 2017. Lastly, I chose to write the title on the cover sheet rather than having it printed is because I wanted to personalise it and present it as a personal Dérive.
