Reflection on overall progress during the fall 2017 semester

When I frist started off with the ‘Dérive’ project, I was completely lost and had no idea what I was doing. I couldn’t understand the project and didn’t know what to present as my part 1 and part 2. Although, later, I spent time researching and looking at the artists Kathleen had introduced me to which developed my knowledge and allowed me to understand this project. I was more confident and I managed to cope up with the difficulties I faced at first.

For the second project that was the ‘Eyes without a face’, I had a lot of fun doing this one as I was able to pair up with someone who is extremely creative and talented, Michelle. I was so glad that we both managed to understand each other which helped my skills evolve within this project.

Moving onto the third project, which was based in ‘Les Père Lachaise’ which I found very complicated, but, after teaming up with 3 other people (Elena, Ashley, Lynn) from my class, I felt that this project got a lot more interesting and I found it so intriguing by the fact that Père Lachaise is a graveyard with tons of tombs and we created a project based on a graveyard.

Referring back to the last project we did, ‘Remake’, I found this project so complicated at first but my team (Thalia, Yiting, Veena) made it so much easier for me. We managed to remake ‘Shapeshifter’ by Brain Jungen and we named in A Shift in Perception.

Overall, I felt this course was so intriguing and I managed to capture all the risks and challenges that were placed on my table for me. I managed to overcome all the risks and bring out the other side of me. There was a big improvement from the first project to the last one and I am so happy to have had Kathleen as my teacher. I felt that at first I didn’t know what I was doing and I was very confused by after projects went by, I managed to learn a lot and gain a lot of knowledge not only from my mistakes but also from Kathleen, my team mates, my partner and my classmates. I can definitely say that I have improved a lot from day 1 and I feel more confident with these aspects of the course.
