Environmental Portrait – FIRST IMPRESSION

In general, the interview helped me to know better Farah and understand what she loves more and the objects that are more meaningful to her. I went there with various kind of questions that, firstly, benefitted me with learning about her past and, as  the interview continued, I could ask her more personal things that increased my knowledge about her life stories, involving objects that flew with her from Lebanon. I understood that her home country is fundamental and she brings, even in the new city she is living in, the routine and the habits she had back home.

The idea to make a video came during the interview, while she was narrating the stories behind her most important objects. At the beginning, I though about doing a video of her whole bedroom and zooming in on certain objects, but later, as I got happily shocked about the emotions that her significant objects were giving me, I preferred to record the integral video as a close-up to give more the idea of involvement to the viewers. Moreover, the colour scheme that I want to keep during the video is orange and red to increase the welcoming and homely feeling that Farah externalise when meeting her for the first time. Added to the video of each object, I want to put a moving picture so that, the viewer can see better and in more details each object, increasing the understanding of the personal and singular meanings.
