Day 1

Patterns are fascinating, they are the essence of power because they are an infinite repetition of images, imprints and colours. This is an important and striking image for me as it reminds me an engraving on the curved surface of a vase that my grandmother used to have at home and she found it really precious as it was given by her mother as the first object to be placed in her new house that she shared with my future grandfather. The decoration printed on this bag recalls my childhood as I remember of this ancient object while I was running in their house when I was about 6. The amount of forms that create each pinecone is stunning as, even with the heavily marked borders, the elements of this plant’s part still look natural. I can think of this pattern as a reference to my own character as my outer character is extremely defined, clear and the components are well placed, even if, when disturbed for a long period, my personality may change like the pinecone that might suffer and adapt a transformation to its outer shell. Other than serving as an explanation of identity, the pattern could be related to an attitude that a person may show in a public environment. For example, the shape could denote confidence as the pinecone, even if moved around, manages to preserve the interiors in balance and this could symbolises the facility for a person to collaborate and overcome a problem. I got fascinated by the bright colours of this pattern and, every time I look at it, I start to see my life as more joyful and pleasant.
