Hang on St Christopher Assignment

Luck is a concept and yet, sometimes that luck can manifest itself into something unimaginable. Lyn Cuuk was a very misfortunate man, a man who was only a shell of his former self. He was once proud man, average yet well off, but one day that all started to go downhill. First he lost his job, then his wealth and then finally his happiness, all in one fell swoop (actually over a course of a month but details details…). You could say that he was down on his luck (but, for reference: Lyn wasn’t very superstitious. That is to say, he believed in that sometimes people got strokes of luck but he never fully relied on a concept such as luck). Heartbroken and afraid Lyn wanders a forest to clear his mind from his predicament.

As he wandered the forest he spotted a strange silhouette from a distance. Suddenly the ground shook and while trying to follow the source of the silhouette, Lyn tripped over a branch, landing into the mud but luckily landing right near what he was looking for. The strange silhouette belonged to a large creature which could only could only be described as monstrous. It had small beady eyes and the head of a bat with big ears, a large hairy body similar to a bear, rough pelt and all. Strangely, it’s legs and feet were of that of a rabbit and had upper paws of a cat and its bear body ended with a large curly pig tail. The strangest part of this beast is that one of it’s cat paws, the right one, was up with paw bent, as if it were beckoning him. Lyn felt many things in this moment, curiosity, amazement and most importantly, fear. He then promptly fainted. When he awoke again the beast was gone, without a trace of it’s existence, except one thing. A small statue, in the likeness of the same beast Lyn saw.

Lyn, without really thinking, grabbed the statue and ran back home. Once Lyn got home something amazing happened. His home phone rang, with a job offer! And then their was a knock on his door, from a neighbor who noticed Lyn was feeling depressed and generously brought a basket of muffins! And once Lyn took the basket and was about to close the door he stepped on something, a $20 dollar bill! Now, all these events of good fortune might have been just huge coincidences, the call for a job offer was just because Lyn applied for some jobs earlier, maybe the basket of muffins from the neighbor was just because they talked on a regular basis and the neighbor knew that Lyn needed some cheering up. And maybe that $20 bill was just something that dropped from Lyn’s pocket earlier. Maybe everything then was just a big coincidence. And sure, nothing as lucky as those strings of good fortune never happened again but things did get better for Lyn, gradually. Lyn was not a superstitious person and believed in luck as much as any average person, but Lyn knew that that encounter with the beast and him obtaining the statue was special so he kept it, right on his bed stand for safe keeping. Now, he didn’t know if the object itself was lucky or not, but he did know that the experience gave him hope for the future.
