IMPERFECT

Imperfect, Richard Tung 2018

This world is not perfect. Perfection does not exist; Utopia is a land that does not exist. We strive to ‘seek’ for perfection, where perfection is like a motivation or goal we set or strive for. Out of all the animals, I chose the flamingo because a flamingo has such a beautiful posture, it almost seems ‘perfect.’ However, flamingoes aren’t as majestic if they are not in that postured position. In such sense, I decided to create three layers to build up the flamingo. The skeleton, the feather, and the pixels that express the beauty of the feather in color. Combined all together, it creates a flamingo that seems realistically surreal.

This composition also creates an image where time has been manipulated, where the skeleton represents the past, the feather represents the present, and the pixels represents the future.
