Bridge 5: Reflection and Moving Ahead: Why I Design

It has always been in my knowledge that design is the fundamentals all living entities and lifeless objects. Everything is designed to a certain degree and what sets things apart of each other is the amount of design that is put in. Our bodies have been designed to function in the way it is, which is different from animals or plants. Through this thought, I design. I would be bold to say without design this world would lack purpose. Behind every design, there is a intricate mind responsible for it; these are precious intel that is copyrighted or patented.

At the beginning, my very first contact to design was around seventh grade when I had to design a logo for an international sports tournament. Surprisingly winning the tournament made me set foot into the design world, specifically graphic design. Influenced by M.C Escher’s optical illusions, my designs often incorporated optical illusions or various forms that references Escher’s work. I am an artist of manipulation and optical illusions. The fact that I can twist and trick the brain of others gives me satisfaction in what I do. M.C. Escher is my admired artist, his use of optical illusions and space is one of the most spectacular of all; looking at his drawings, I ponder from time to time, what is it like if I were to emerge in such a space of delusion. If I enter this room, which door will I walk out from? Will I defy the law of physics if I come out on the ceiling? This mystery within a painting is why Art and Design, to me, is so important. A mystery unsolved where the answer solely prevails within the artist.
