Reflection:

  1. What have you discovered about your creative process over the course of the semester thus far? What did you discover about your preferred processes through this particular assignment?

I have discovered that creativity could come in process and in steps. As a painting student, creativity has been always important to me. The idea just popped up in my head and without thinking too much, I will just paint and paint. But I learnt that to create something unique can also take time and take steps to finalize my ideas.

2. Tell me about your separate experiences with on-site research and primary/secondary source research. How did these separate investigative methods inform your final work? Was one more valuable to you than the other? How did the two inform each other?

I would say that both research techniques are valuable. On site research helped me with the first impression and gave me an exact feeling of what could be nice to have on that place and the secondary source research gave me details and facts to support my idea. They both are very useful to come up with the design.

3. What did you learn about your approach to research through this project?

I leant that when hailing with second source reseach, you need to be more careful on where the information comes from and whether the information is really needed in my essay. I often drift off from main points when I am writing because the facts that I found on internet is more interesting. But through this project especially, because it is focused on one item, I learnt that it is important to pay more attention to what information I am writing down on the paper.

4. What did you learn about your approach to revision?

Because this project took quite a long time, it was very important to me to revise because I would forget what I researched before and have to find it again. Revision helps me to store the knowledge and make it mine. And this is useful because writing essay becomes a lot more easier.

5. What was your intention for this assignment? How do you feel you successfully conveyed that intention? How do you think you could have conveyed that intention more successfully?

My intention was to make a piece which could be enjoyed nay everyone in the public as well as to educate, and honor the LGBTQ community. I think I was successful with this project because I think I achieved both quite well.

6. Discuss the relationship between Bridge 4 Studio and Bridge 4 Seminar in your process. How has the work you’ve done in Seminar informed your choices in Studio, and vice versa?

Now that I got more clear idea on how to design the project through writing this research based essay, I think that studio project will be easier to make. This is because while I was writing for seminar, I kept on thinking about the actual installation which made me think about how to build it.

7. How has writing informed your creative process and practice at large?

Writing didn’t affect my creative process as much but through writing it, my ideas became more clearer and my new ideas kept coming up which I could say that it affected my creative process.

8. How has this project changed the way you see? (This is open for interpretation.)

I wasn’t too aware of LGBTQ community but as I was writing for the side of pros LGBTQ liberation, I got more educated about the issue and the people. I also learnt that there are so many things people should take care of when building an installation or monuments. It cannot be just pretty, but safety is also very important when it comes to public.
