Tame Impala’s Currents came out around the same time as my 16th birthday and when I first got my car. With my newfound freedom I would ride around with my windows down and music blasting. This album reminds me of my first taste of independence.

I decided to collect my peers’ favorite quotes and illustrate my interpretations in the following piece. This quote explores what it means to be a young adult, facing the pressures of growing up and needing to rely on yourself. “I sure do talk a lot of shit” reminded me of the restlessness of young adulthood. Inner lip tattoos have begun to trend with my generation, so the placement of the text is reflective of the rebellious and unstoppable spirit of adolescence. I find this piece funny.

I recognize this piece is a bit crass and I made a “smart-ass” decision but a big part of my personality is humor.
