Memoir Reflection

What did you learn in studio and seminar?

For my seminar class, I learnt how to read more precisely and take good notes from an article. I also improved my writing skills out of the practice in this class. For my studio class, I learned how to express my artistic views through not only drawing, but many other forms like film, fabric and photographs.

•How did the work in seminar inform what you created in studio?

The writing in seminar class was always related to the projects in studio. They cooperated with each other, and made my life much easier. I felt like, in seminar class, we always finished all the brainstorming part,  and had the basic structural ideas and outlines written before we actually went into the studio to make the actual products. It was a good practice of my comprehension and writing skills in seminar, while studio helped me with practical making.

•How did the work you completed in studio support or deepen your understanding of seminar work?

After actually making the product in studio class, I wanted to change a bit of information on my blueprints, which were letters that I had written in seminar class. As I was working with the real object, new ideas popped out in my mind,  which I needed to make corrections of. Then, this making process in studio also helped me furnishes my writing in seminar.

•What did you learn about memory or the idea/practice of exploring the self?

I found it interesting to actually look at myself and found out there is a lot of different characters hidden inside my personality. It had such a diversity, which gave me inspiration that could further benefit into my art creation. Moreover, it was also fun to use a lot of different medias to define the story of myself. We used film, photographs, and letters. Those were all the forms that turn out to be quite interesting.
