As I moved further into finalizing my design, I majorly focused on the idea of incorporating two different materials in constructing the final model. I first tried to use acrylic square tubes to interlock with wood bars. Due to the hardness of the material, I failed to cut through the acrylic with precision and it seems to mess up with my previous measurement. Therefore, I decided to switch my material. I was thinking of finding a material that’s light but at the same time has a rough surface carrying enough friction to hold the joints tightly. The light weight will also further emphasis the power of joints-how soft materials interlock with hard wood and then be able to support heavy weight objects on top. Pink foam comes to my mind. It’s a perfect material that fits into my minds. After cutting them with precise measurement to ensure well support and connection , my final model of joints was then formed.
