For my thesis project, I want to make an animation. The animation will be drawn digitally, frame by frame on my iPad. For editing I will be using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. My ideas are all rather realistic, although fictional, stories – there are no fantastical creatures, no magical powers, no visually stimulating illusions. I want my animation to, through details, moods and dialogues, connect with the audience on a deeper level. This animation will be in the format of an actual commercial. I will be coming up with my own dairy brand – logo, package design and everything. In short, it’s going to be an animated commercial. The story will be about a girl growing up in a small town in the mountains in Taiwan. The narrative will be rather realistic.

A SIMPLE SCRIPT SUMMARIZING THE NARRATION:

1.  Protagonist: An-Hsin, around 12 yrs old. An-Hsin saw a stray puppy in a park on her way to school. During lunch at school, she put the bottle of milk (which is part of the school lunch) into her bag. After school, An-Hsin ran to the park and gave her bottle of milk to the stray puppy. An-Hsin named the stray puppy “Snow White” and promised that she’ll come visit Snow White everyday from now on.
2. An-Hsin is playing fetch with Snow White in the park. Her mom passes by and took her home. They made papaya milk together.
3. An-Hsin is now 19 yr old, busy with her SATs. She comes to the park again to see Snow White, which is also a grown dog now. She apologizes for not being able to visit Snow White as frequently as she did before because of the exams. A boy in An-Hsin’s classes passes by the park and noticed An-Hsin and Snow White…. Night came, An-Hsin is studying in the library. The boy came and put a bottle of milk on her table with a sticky note on it that says “Get some rest! We’ll kill this exam togther!” then he sits down on the other side of the table. They smiled shyly at each other.
4. An-Hsin recieved the admission letter from her dream school.  She bought a bottle of milk, with a heart shaped sticky note on it, and went to school. She wanted to confess to the boy, but saw that another girl was already confessing to him. Her confidence shattered and she ran away, not notcing that the boy also noticed her. An-Hsin ran to the park to find Snow White but Snow White wasn’t there. She looked everywhere in town, but still couldn’t find Snow White. An-Hsin went back to the park and sobbed.
5. An-Hsin’s parents are driving her to the train station to send her to her college. Before they leave, An-Hsin asked “can we stop by the playground on the way?”. When she got the playground, she called for Snow White, but there was still no response. “Hurry, you’ll miss your train!” An-Hsin had no choice but return to her dad’s truck. At the train station, her parents gave her a bottle of milk, and said “take care of yourself over there sweetie.” Hugged mom and dad, “I love you mom, dad.”
6. 4 years later, An-Hsin is 23 yrs old. She finished college and returned to her town. Everything stayed the same except for the playground, which got turned into a 7-11. She went into the 7-11 and bought a bottle of milk, as she stepped out from the store, she heard a familiar bark. It was Snow White!!! It was then she noticed that Snow White now has a collar, she looked up to see who her new owner is…. and it’s the boy who she was secretly in love with. He smiled at her, as if he’s been waiting for this moment all these years, and said “welcome home”.
