Studio Research Part 4

The first one is about change the original department store into more gallery-like. Since we can easily feel like we are in museum and enjoy shopping the clothes when we are at Barney’s. It wants toproduce those elegant, comfortable aura in the store, and treat those clothes like artworks. Therefore, I take this element as an inspiration and design a different way of shopping.

The second one is hanging those caps, shirts, jeans, shoes on the wall, the notion is quite similar to the first design. I also used gallery as an inspiration, but I interpreted in a different outlook. Hanging on the wall is also one of the most innovative ways to show the goods, and it also saves a lot of spaces. People can enjoy shopping by looking at how the new way to display.

The third one is I put the clothes in between the ground and the glass that covers the ground. I want to create an atmosphere that people step on the clothes, and they also can look the clothes they below their feet, which is really cool and interesting. I was inspired by the whole interior decorations, since Barney’s applies a lot of glasses into its decoration, I think it will be unexpected if it also applies on the ground.

The forth one is a vending machine that sells clothes, hats, and shoes. I took this inspiration from the Genes’ Cafe, which located on the 8th floor in Barney’s. The design is pretty fresh and innovative, it has a huge touch screen table that clients can order the food by touching the screen. I think it would be inventive if I applied a similar method on clothes and vending machine.

The fifth one is three straight line hanger that cross together, and becoming an unprecedented way of displaying. When I was accidentally browsing in the women’s division, I suddenly noticed that its decoration is quite different from the men’s. It has more different shapes and various lengths of hangers, which is different from the mens’ regular and straight line hangers. I believe it would be cool to employ this new kind of hanger.
