Week 4

Gaudi’s casa Mila would be accepted in New York. This is because New York is a melting pot for architectural styles and has a diverse population. It would be a major attraction in the city. The building would be accepted , but it isn’t feasible to be built here. We have no land, there are laws regarding sidewalk. Casa Mill spills onto the pavement and may cause issues for manhattans grid system. In addition the facade and materials may not be able to withstand the brutal winter months. The interior of Gaudis building is an attraction, but it makes some feel uneasy. The sense organization is lost because the ornamentation of the building is very dense. The ceiling has different colors. The exterior is very sculpture like. The rooms change in function. Casa Mila is a beautiful mess. New York loves beautiful messes, look at our subway system.
