I’m Ethan Seemungal, an architecture design major.
My work is centered around architecture. In all my classes you can see I try to relate as many assignments as I can to buildings. Through my classes I’ve learned many skills that have transcended each class. In my time class, I learned how to make a zine, video editing and a bit of illustrator. That class helped me with so many of my other classes first year. Sustainable systems has influenced my design process. I think about sustainable design more than ever. Research has helped all of my projects because they all usually start off with a series of questions before I begin designing.
Two highlights from first semester year has to be The Meme Museum and The Play hour on Mars. The first project was a meme museum. We had the opportunity to create a fake museum gallery. My group chose to make a meme museum at the new museum. We challenged the identity of a meme and wondered if they could be considered art. This project was very layered, we made foam core models and I ended up making a VR video of the actual museum space. That projects led me to a great group of friends. The Mars project was a building design that I made for a group project in constructed environments studio. It was a huge task to render a building in a mountain but I got through it. I’ve learned how to collaborate well with others and what my strengths are.
Moving forward I don’t know what’s in store. I would like to learn everything I possibly can but I’m going with the flow. I’m looking forward to architecture next year.
