Wearable Design Project:

Design Process/Drawings:
The assignment was to make a wearable piece of work that emphasized some part of the body. I developed my entire design around this idea and ultimately came to the conclusion that I didn’t have to change the silhouette much on a relatively basic dress if I emphasized shape with my painting. This is when I took to Google to research how optical illusions worked.
Construction Process:
These are some photos of the construction process. Initially, I had planned to construct a cowl neckline however once I began to sew I realized that the cowl wouldn’t drape well with the fabric that I chose, and changing the fabric wasn’t an option as I could easily paint on this fabric without the lines bleeding so instead I chose a more classic square neckline, which I ultimately liked much more as it made the dress easier to paint later.
