After last week’s crit, I decided I wanted to reapproach my zine’s design and overall focus to make it more concise and appealing.
My main objectives were making the zine more youthful and exciting, creating cohesion, and including the social issues of NoHo’s past I had already emphasized in my first draft. My new (and final) theme views issues specific to NoHo and the Bowery from a historical lens and a present day lens.
Here are photos of the spreads – the back and front cover, the spread on the 80’s crack epidemic and present-day addiction counseling, the spread on historical riots and present-day boxing clubs, the spread on the “wicked” nightlife of the past and present-day risque bars, main copy and photo descriptions, and finally a photo bleed of relevant photos I took in Noho myself and collected from archives.
